Berlin, November 9th, 2016
The President of the Andalusia region, Susana Diaz, inaugurated on November 3rd the new operating rooms (O.R.) for general and digestive surgery at the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Seville, Spain. Established in 1955, the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío is one of the most important hospital of the South of Spain. Each year, it hosts more than 285,000 emergencies, 57,000 surgeries and 1 million doctor appointments.
The global renewal, led by Medtronic, increased the number of operating rooms from 4 to 5 and renovated them according to the latest standards and technological advancements. More than 1.2 million euros were invested by the public healthcare service of Andalusia as they decided to partner with Medtronic.
Due to its high capacity utilization, Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío wanted to improve operational efficiency in the operating rooms by automating workflows and removing paper-based documentation. S·CAPE ® offered a complete solution: each O.R. is equipped with advanced visualization capabilities and procedure recording. Thanks to the caresyntax® HUB, documentation acquired during the procedure can be easily exported to the PACS system. Monitors with quadview for each room camera allow to review remotely O.R. room status from the break room.
Additionally, a multimedia room is connected in real-time to O.R.s allowing surgeons to stream the procedure to students. A teleconferencing cart allows on-demand collaboration with remote colleagues. This holds great value as the hospital hosts medical classes with the award-winning Seville University and international congresses.
