Platform & Technology Developments

Vendor-Neutral Enterprise Surgery Platform – In May, Caresyntax introduced its integrated, vendor-neutral enterprise surgical data platform, a comprehensive software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution with surgical video and data collection to offer data-driven insights to ensure safe, efficient procedures from start to finish.

Value-Delivery Programs for Data-Driven Surgery – The company crafted solutions to match enterprise health systems’ strategic business objectives for Perioperative Efficiency to optimize team onboarding and workflow, operating room scheduling, and cost management; Surgeon Experience and Retention to make hospitals the preferred choice of top surgeons; Enhanced Revenue to model, execute, and administer novel value-based surgical contracts; and Modernizing the OR to create the optimal surgical suite of the future.

Risk Management Software as a Service (RMSaaS) – Caresyntax, in partnership with Relyens, deployed at scale a RMSaaS offering that combined insurance and risk management services and capital with Caresyntax technology and playbooks for European IDNs that resulted in significant cost of care savings.

Perioperative Efficiency Feature Expansion – Caresyntax expanded on its powerful perioperative analytics platform with Block Marketplace, which helps optimize operating room utilization by providing transparency to the OR schedule and improves efficiency of scheduling cases so hospitals can increase surgical volumes. Additionally, powerful artificial intelligence can predict which blocks are most likely to go unused, how long a case will actually take, and make suggestions for the best room for a specific case.

Modernizing the Operating Room – Caresyntax continued to modernize the OR with advanced telepresence, education, and proctoring solution for surgeons and their teams integrated in the Caresyntax platform. Through this solution, experts from around the world can easily participate in and help guide surgeries remotely.

Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations

Intel – Caresyntax enhanced its data-driven surgery platform with advanced AI capabilities powered by Intel technology including the Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ Toolkit and Intel® Core™ Processors to help perioperative leaders to rapidly onboard new clinicians and travel nurses and mitigate acute staffing shortages. The collaboration with Intel combines capabilities to develop new breakthrough technologies that transform surgery. The Intel podcast with Caresyntax CEO, Dennis Kogan ranked #2 for Intel’s top podcasts for 2022.

Google Cloud and YouTube – Caresyntax worked with Google Cloud and its Service Partners to develop an innovative, direct-to-surgeon application–InfluenceOR™–to empower surgeons to get surgical procedure assessment and feedback and then publish and promote their qualified surgical videos on YouTube to build a brand reputation for quality and data-driven surgery.

Global Network for Data-Driven Surgeons – Caresyntax successfully engaged with a global network of data-driven surgeons across bariatrics, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, total knee arthroplasty (TKA), wrist fracture repair (minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO)), and other procedures to reduce surgical variability and to improve patient outcomes. This has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications, including six publications to be featured at SAGES in 2023.

B.Braun Software Pilot – In Partnership with B. Braun, Caresyntax launched its enterprise software in centers across Europe in 2022, which enabled simplified user management, content management, and secure cloud ingestion services of hospital, PREM and PROM data, and B. Braun’s Orthopilot® Navigation Platform. Surgeons now have a unique view of the full patient workflow including Risk Management, intraoperative data, and post-operative outcomes. Improvement of outcomes will be possible based on treatments personalized for each patient, made possible by the integration of multiple sources of data providing a holistic picture of the patient.

American Board of Surgery (ABS) – As a result of a successful pilot program examining the use of video-based assessment (VBA) of surgical procedures as a possible mechanism to support continuous certification and formative skill assessment, the American Board of Surgery invited Caresyntax to join them in their booth at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress to assist with the ABS surgical coaching initiative.

About Caresyntax:

Caresyntax is on a mission to make surgery smarter and safer. Our vendor-neutral, enterprise surgical data platform delivers actionable insights to improve patient outcomes by using proprietary software and AI to analyze large volumes of video, audio, images, device data, clinical, and operational data in and around the OR. This real-world evidence can be used by the care team live, during a procedure, and accessed by those outside the operating room via the platform’s dedicated telehealth link. After a procedure, the Caresyntax platform provides insights that help surgeons benchmark and improve their care, hospital administrators use surgical resources more efficiently, medical device companies advance better products, and insurance companies understand risk and devise more tailored policies. Headquartered in Berlin and Boston, Caresyntax software is used in more than 2,800 operating rooms worldwide and supports surgical teams in over three million procedures per year.
