Partnership will ease clinician burden by integrating required education into the workflow

Boston (November 16, 2021) — Caresyntax, a company dedicated to making surgery smarter and safer by delivering actionable insights with its enterprise-grade digital surgery platform, announced today a strategic partnership with Cine-Med, a global healthcare solutions company committed to improving patient outcomes through innovative training and customer engagement.

This partnership will enable surgeons using Caresyntax’s platform to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits starting in early 2022, and receive online participation summaries on a quarterly basis to support their board certification, state licensure, and hospital credentialing processes.

“Cine-Med is very pleased to announce our partnership with Caresyntax,” said Kevin McGovern, CEO. “Their platform is the future of CME — the ability to tangibly measure the positive impact of continuing education on patients and surgical populations represents a significant advancement for providers and surgeons alike. Given that surgical technical skills are measurable and can be improved — and more importantly, are highly correlated with patient outcomes, it gives us the paradigm shift we’ve needed to drive Cine-Med’s vision for real-world CME forward.”

Caresyntax’s digital surgery platform analyzes video, image, device, clinical, and other data in and around the OR, and delivers predictive insights that enable surgeons and their teams to benchmark and improve their care, and hospital administrators to use time and surgical resources more efficiently to grow surgical revenues and market share under both value-based and traditional care models. The capability to manage, review, and improve care following assessment of Caresyntax’ surgical data is already being used by the American Board of Surgery as they investigate the use of video-based assessment to enhance their Continuous Certification Program for board-certified surgeons.

“Our goal has always been to help improve surgical care quality while reducing clinician burden,” said Dr. Michael Woods, a board-certified surgeon and Chief Medical Officer of Caresyntax. “Our partnership with Cine-Med delivers on that vision. Simply by using the system, surgeons — and nursing staff — can help improve quality of care and fulfill the continuing education requirements they need for licensure and credentialing.”

“Surgeons use our digital surgery platform every day to improve and maintain the skills needed to make surgery smarter and safer,” said Dennis Kogan, Caresyntax founder and CEO. “But, prior to our partnership with Cine-Med, surgeons still had to invest significant time to keep up their formal education, completing paperwork and numerous procedural steps outside of their normal operating environments. Now with Cine-Med, surgeons on the Caresyntax platform will be able to earn CME credit in the course of their normal activities and receive credit where and when credit is due.”

About Caresyntax:

Caresyntax is on a mission to make surgery smarter and safer. Our enterprise-grade digital surgery platform delivers actionable insights to improve patient outcomes by using proprietary software and AI to analyze large volumes of video, audio, images, device data, clinical, and operational data in and around the OR. This real-world evidence can be used by the care team live, during a procedure and accessed by those outside the operating room via the platform’s dedicated telehealth link. After a procedure, the Caresyntax platform provides insights that help: surgeons benchmark and improve their care, hospital administrators use surgical resources more efficiently, medical device companies advance better products, and insurance companies understand risk and devise more tailored policies. Founded by entrepreneurs Dennis Kogan and Björn von Siemens, Caresyntax software is used in more than 4,000 operating rooms worldwide and supports surgical teams in over two million procedures per year.
